WATERTOWN – Theresa (Skinner) McDermott, widow of Francis "Roy" McDermott, died peacefully on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Grove Manor Nursing Home in Waterbury where she resided for the last six years.

A daughter of the late John and Katherine Skinner, Theresa was raised in Bristol. She attended St. Joseph School and Bristol High. Theresa and Roy made their home in Oakville for most of their lives and were parishioners of St. Mary Magdalen Church. Theresa worked at the Pickwick Supermarket. She loved her family and her little dogs. She will be remembered for her strong spirit and perseverance.

Theresa is survived by her son Michael McDermott and his wife Carole of Florida, her brother Vincent Skinner of Bristol, her sister Patricia (Robert) Wilson of Bristol, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Thomas and Francis.

Her family is very thankful for Theresa's nurse Devon and all the staff at Grove Manor for their dedication and loving care of her. We are grateful to Chaplain Michael and her caregivers from Vitas Hospice whose visits brought comfort and smiles to Theresa and to her family.

There are no calling hours. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Gregory Church, 235 Maltby Street, Bristol on Monday, October 1 at 12:30 PM for Theresa's funeral Mass. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown.
