OAKVILLE – Maria Josephina Pabon, age 94 of Oakville, passed away on Saturday December 9, 2017 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after an extended illness. She was the widow of Ralph Pabon.

Maria was born December 5, 1923 in Guayama, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Alfonso Suarez and Delores Diaz. Maria was dedicated to her family whether it was helping her parents raise her nine siblings, taking care of her own children or her grandchildren, Maria was always there to provide love comfort and guidance to all of her family. Maria loved to spend time in her garden, growing flowers and was an avid animal lover and enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting and sewing. Maria was a devout Catholic and devoted parishioner of Saint Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville.

Among his survivors are her daughters; Elizabeth Burgos and her husband, Faustino of Thomaston, Mitzi Irizarry and her husband, Ellis of Oakville, and Marilyn Soto of Orlando, FL. In addition, she leaves her 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren as well as many nieces nephews and other extend family members. She was predeceased by her sons, Ernesto Vasquez and Felix Suarez as well as her 9 siblings.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pabon will be held on Wednesday December 13, 2017 at 11:00am at Saint Mary Magdalen Church when a Mass of Christian Burial wil be celebrated. Those plnning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. Friends and relatives may visit with Maria’s family on Tuesday evening at O’Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St Oakville , from 5:00 ~ 7:00 pm.
