Obituary for Mario Ragaglia

THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF MARIO RAGAGLIA

WATERBURY – Mario Ragaglia, age 92 of Waterbury, formerly of Oakville, passed away peacefully at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of Saint Mary’s Hospital on Sunday, November 19, 2017 after a brief illness. He was the widower of Edith (Haley) Ragaglia.

Mario was born January 16th 1925 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Rosario and Consetta (Campisi) Ragaglia. Mario was a longtime Oakville resident and proudly served his country with the US Navy during World War II as a signalman, on the USS Edgar Allen Poe. He worked as a pipefitter for Vickers in Waterbury for 15 years and retired from Uniroyal Chemical after 28 years of service. He was a former member of Saint Mary Magdalen Church and was a dedicated and loving father, husband, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. He was an avid sports fan and a diehard fan of the UConn Women’s basketball team. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends at Eastgate over the past 5 years. The Ragaglia family would like to thank and acknowledge the doctors, nurses, and staff from Vitas Hospice as well as the caregivers at Companions & Homemakers, especially Karen Rossetti, for all the compassionate care and support they provided to Mario and his family during his illness.

Among his survivors are his sons; John Ragaglia of Daytona, FL, Bruce Ragaglia and his wife Michelle of Midlothian, VA, Glenn Ragaglia and his wife Michelle of Cheyenne, WY;,Gary Ragaglia of Boston, MA, Brian Ragaglia and his wife Patty of Watertown and his daughter, Judy Normandin of Naugatuck. In addition, he is survived by his nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. He is predeceased by his siblings; Vincent Ragaglia, Frank Ragaglia, Rose Dichele, Sana Guarino, and Mary Ebreo.

Funeral services for Mr. Ragaglia will be held on Monday November 27th 2017 at 10:30am at the O’Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St Oakville, CT. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Family and friends may visit with Mario’s family on Monday morning from 9:30am until the time of the service at 10:30am.
