OXFORD – Donna Jean Peterson, age 65, passed away Saturday October 28, 2017 at Hospice at Waterbury Hospital after a fall at her home. She was the very special daughter of Raymond and Anne (Middlebrook) Peterson of Monroe.

She was born February 2, 1952 in Bridgeport and lived her first years on Thorpe Street, Ffld, before moving to Monroe. Donna enrolled in school at the Kennedy Center in 1957 and moved into Southbury Training School in 1959. After 62 years at Southbury Training School, she was moved to a beautiful group home in Oxford with four other women and the greatest group of Towner Lane staff & team. Donna lived a fulfilling life: camping, singing, dancing, movies, day programs and was recently reintroduced to the Kennedy Center where she awaited an opening. The past two years were the beginning of a new life for Donna, visiting petting zoos, farms, Mystic, The Maritime Center, and many new experiences. She was always a happy, laughing, smiling lady and was such a joy to all who knew her.

Donna is survived by her older brother Carl B. Peterson of Bridgeport, younger sister and guardian Karen Peterson French of Monroe, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also loved and mourned by many staff, friends and special families from STS, DDS, KHS, & CLS. A special thank you to VITAS/ HOSPICE & the staff at Waterbury Hospital.
