THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF HERMINIA IRIZARRY

OAKVILLE – Herminia Irizarry age 88 of Oakville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday October 11, 2017 at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Heriberto Irizarry.

Herminia was born January 3, 1929 in Arequipa, Peru, the daughter of the late Luis and Antonia (Pinto) Zegarra and Lee and Mary Taylor. Herminia was raised and educated in Peru and moved to the United States. as a young lady where she met the love of her life, US Army Sergeant 1st Class Heriberto Irizarry in 1953. Herminia was a dedicated and loving homemaker who took pride in raising her family as her husband traveled overseas while serving in the Army for over 20 years. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Church and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Besides her husband, Heriberto of 64 years, she is survived by her children, John F. Irizarry and his wife, Miriam of Bronx, NY, Ellis D. Irizarry and his wife, Mitzi of Oakville, Crystal Valentin and her husband, Juan of Oakville, her brother, John F. Taylor of Greece and her sister, Barbara Delanoy of Denver, Colorado. In addition, she leaves behind her grandchildren; Jessica, Gwen, Stephanie, Ariel, Justin and Julius and her great grandchildren, Ralphy Jr and Jax. She was predeceased by her siblings, Ediberto Zeggara, Richard Taylor, and luz Milla Zeggara.

Funeral services for Mrs. Irizarry will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 8:30 am from O’Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St Oakville to St Mary Magdalen Church, Buckingham St Oakville CT where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown, CT. Relatives and friends may visit with Herminia’s family on Monday, October 16th 2017 from 5;00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home.
